Abstract

De-Icing Need/ point -service is a nowcast-type forecast of aircraft de-icing need before takeoff. It is post-processed information from ECMWF data and European radar network (OPERA) information. It is intended to air traffic planner, airport maintenance, air traffic control, airlines and pilots to help and prepare for actions in Winter weather conditions.

De-Icing

De-icing operation on an aircraft that may consist of removal of snow, ice or frost from the aircraft (de-icing), and/or also application of chemicals that remain on a surface and continue to delay the reformation of ice up (anti-icing).

The service relies on TLSv 1.2 to provide integrity and confidentiality.
