Cyprus TAF in IWXXM v 1.0

Abstract

The service provides the latest TAF reports in IWXXM for Cyprus aerodromes in compliance with ICAO Annex 3. The retrieval of information will be done on a regular basis (subscription) via AMQP 1.0 whereby the message contains the whole IWXXM dataset. The other option to collect the data is via Request/Reply using OGC EDR API, where the IWXXM data is provided in replies, in a ZIP archive.

Description

The Cyprus Department of Meteorology is a Government Department under the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, having all the normal responsibilities of a national Department of Meteorology. The Department is providing services and information relevant to the weather and climate aiming to the well-being of the people of Cyprus and the protection of their life and property. The main fields of activity and the principal functions of the Department are the following:

  • Issue of regular weather of forecasts and dissemination of these forecasts to the general public through the mass information media.
  • Provision of meteorological services, weather forecasts, warnings and other information, for the needs of civil aviation.
  • Issue of weather forecasts and warnings for shipping and other marine activities in the sea area around Cyprus.
  • Processing, classification and publication of meteorological data.
  • Publication of reports on weather and climate and supply of meteorological information and consultative services for the needs of the Cyprus community and in particular for applications to agriculture, conservation and management of water resources, engineering studies and constructions, tourism and industry, renewable energy sources, environmental studies.

For the achievement of the above objectives, the Department of Meteorology collects and uses the meteorological information over the Cyprus domain effectively and properly and shares this information with other National Meteorological Services and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).
