The EANS Aeronautical Information Feature Request Service enables the service consumer to request actual and future aeronautical feature data, such as aerodromes, airspaces, navigation aids, obstacles and ATS routes through a standardized SOAP-based request/response interface. The exact information needed by the service consumer can be specified in the information request based on feature name, location and/or time parameters. The information returned is in the form of an AIXM 5.1.1 message ensuring compliance with aeronautical information exchange standards.

Operational needs
The EANS Aeronautical Information Feature Request Service provides access to aeronautical feature data stored in the EANS AIM database. This data includes both current and planned infrastructure within the Tallinn FIR, such as aerodromes, airspaces, navigation aids, and ATS routes. It is intended for use by air traffic stakeholders (civil and military airspace users, Air Traffic Control, civil and military ANSPs, Aeronautical Information Management, and the Military Defence Centre) as well as surface management entities (airport operators) to support operational planning. The service ensures high-quality data delivery in compliance with EU Commission Implementing Regulations 373/2017 and 2021/116 (Common Project One), ICAO Annex 15, ICAO Doc 10066, and the SESAR Deployment Program.
Information Exchange Requirements
A3SG-IER-01 AIP Data Exchange, as follows: Allow civil and military Airspace users, ATS, Airport operators, civil and military ANSP-s, AIM and military defence centre to subscribe to aeronautical information feature service. Users can choose the data, they would like to have access to and receive baseline data and any updates to it.
Aeronautical Features
Service offers high-quality, latest, trusted and regulated aeronautical AIXM 5.1 formatted data retrieval. Service offers following capabilities: Authentication to use the service; Retrieving baseline+tempdelta data; Retrieving AIXM features; Filtering by using filters such as time, feature identifier, feature type, feature properties (active/not active/ready for activation), airspaces, airports etc.

Availability
High Availability, 95%: Service disruption is minimal, support for cluster or multiple instances. Autoscaling: Ability to scale according to load. If one instance goes down, traffic is automatically redirected to another.

RecoverabilityRecovery is performed automatically or in a managed manner according to policy. Loss of configuration and authentication data is not allowed. Configuration and queue metadata are backed up regularly. API Gateway configuration is backed up automatically. In case of system failure, the service must be restored the next business day. In case of force major this may not be guaranteed.

ConfidentialityData confidentiality is ensured by the implemented security mechanisms: mTLS ensures mutual authentication between client and server (client and server certificates) and all connections are secured with TLS 1.2/1.3 encryption.

IntegrityData integrity is maintained, no messages or critical queries are lost.

Authentication and AuthorisationOnly authenticated users are authorised to use the service. The service shall ensure consumer authentication in accordance with the EUROCONTROL Specification for SWIM Technical Infrastructure (TI) Yellow Profile through the use of a X.509 certificate over mTLS and the use of a username/password (SASL). In order to use the service and have access to appropriate service functions and operations, the client must have user roles granted in service provider authentication system.

AccessIn order to be able to access and use the EANS Aeronautical Information Feature Request service, users need to become certified clients. The authentication to the service is performed as basic authentication: 1. Register as a service user via web-form (registration form will soon be accessible from our aim webpage), you will be provided with username and password 2.Authenticate with x.509 via mTLS. 3. Username and password will later be used for authentication and authorization for using the service. 4. By sending us a request for signing up as a client, you agree with our terms and conditions.

SELF_VALIDATION
Before allowed access to live API, the client must test that their API endpoint is compliant with service configurations. The verification process is performed in service provider test environment. Client must run validation checks to ensure proper functionality, security and data format compliance. Once the clients endpoint is confirmed as compliant, the live service full access is activated enabling seamless system integration.

OGC Filter Encoding 2.0 Encoding Standard- Temporal Extension
The service supports the retrieval of AIXM 5.1 features. All temporal operators described in OGC Web Feature Service (WFS) Temporality Extension (Doc nr OGC 12-027r3) are supported.
Restriction: the interpretation cannot be SNAPSHOT if temporal filters are used.

The service receives information from the data originators that have signed service level agreement with EANS. This includes: - AIRPORT_OPERATOR - CIVIL_AIR_NAVIGATION_SERVICE_PROVIDER - MILITARY_AIR_NAVIGATION_SERVICE_PROVIDER - COMMUNICATION_NAVIGATION_AND_SURVEILLANCE_SERVICE_PROVIDER - MILITARY_DEFENCE_CENTER - CIVIL AVIATION ADMINISTRATION - Government Agencies. EANS aims at achieving the level of minimal to no modifications made when receiving information from data originators.
Aeronautical Information Features
The service shall offer features defined in the Aeronautical Information Exchange Model (AIXM) 5.1.1. The service implements core elements of the OGC WFS-TE (Web Feature Service – Temporal Extension) specification, which is designed to enable standardized querying and retrieval of geospatial features with temporal attributes, such as those defined in AIXM 5.1. Supported output formats vary by query type and are aligned with WFS-TE capabilities. Each request may explicitly define the desired output format (see query type descriptions below). The selected format influences the encoding, schema structure, and level of detail in the response payload, ensuring compliance with applicable OGC and AIXM standards. In general, following output formats are supported 1. text/xml; subtype=aixm. A well-formed and valid AIXM will be returned as text content of an XML element. 2. xml/aixm: The response contains the queried AIXM as XML content.

Normal Behaviour
Users can retrieve baseline aeronautical data via the OGC Web Feature Service (WFS) 2.0 interface. The service does not perform automatic dataset publication; instead, all data resides in the AIM database and is made available upon explicit client request. Communication follows a SOAP-based protocol over HTTP, adhering to standard web service practices. Each client request must encapsulate the WFS operation within a SOAP envelope and transmit it to the service endpoint. The server processes the request and returns an AIXM Basic Message as the response, also embedded within a SOAP envelope and body, ensuring schema compliance with AIXM 5.1 and WFS-TE specifications. The interaction conforms to synchronous request–reply message exchange patterns as defined in the Message Exchange Patterns: Identification Guidelines, guaranteeing predictable behavior and interoperability across SWIM-compliant systems.
