Service description

 

The Contrail Service for Aviation (ConSA) server is a SWIM web service developed by AIRBUS Defence and Space in cooperation with Luciad for the SWIM Master Class 2015.

Based on real time weather data and taking into account spatial and temporal parameters - such as a 4D trajectory - supplied by a client, it can calculate and predict contrail forming. The objective of the service is to reduce the impact of aviation on the environment, since contrail forming causes a net warming effect.

ConSA is based on SWIM-adopted standards such as OGC web services, NetCDF and WXXM, and hence it seamlessly integrates within a SWIM environment.
